Instructions for Patching International Cricket Captain 2000 There are 2 ways of patching International Cricket Captain 2000: 1) From within the Game Start the game and click on Network Game. This will connect to the Empire Server and the first thing it does is check you have the very latest version. If it finds a newer version it will automatically download it and install it. Note: You do not have to register to play on-line to use this method of patching. It is the recommended way of keeping up to date as it will contain all updates and usually get new updates first. *** NOTE *** Due to a bug in 1.21/1.25 you MUST have a saved game in your International Cricket Captain 2000 directory to use Network Game otherwise the program will crash. 2) Download from Empire web site Major updates have been created into standalone .EXE downloads. These can be found at http://www.empire.co.uk/cricket in the Downloads section. *** VERY IMPORTANT *** If you download the patch you must download the correct file for your current version of International Cricket Captain 2000. You should only ever have to download ONE file. You can see the current version of International Cricket Captain 2000 in the top right part of the screen on the starting menu screen. Major versions
Currently the most up to date version is v1.32 (this currently though can only be obtained by selecting Network Game). There have been some minor releases but this have been only released on the Network Server. If you are not currently running v1.21 or v1.25 you will have to update via the Network Game option. It should be obvious which file you need to download as they are called iccpatch121-131.exe and iccpatch125-131. You DO NOT NEED to download cricket125.exe (first patch from v1.21 to 1.25). Simply check which version you are running and download the correct file. Once it has finished downloading double click on it and it will locate your International Cricket Captain 2000 installation and update it. What to do if you have problems The patches for International Cricket Captain only contain the differences between versions not complete files. This is the reason you MUST download the correct version. Failure to do so will result in a CheckSum error as the files are a different version to what the patch expects. Occasionally you may still get a CheckSum error in which case do the following. Using Explorer or My Computer navigate to your International Cricket Captain 2000 directory (by default this is C:\Program Files\Empire International\International Cricket Captain 2000) and delete ALL files with .CPF extension. These are the actual patch files and if you have more than one it could mean you have an old one as a result of a failed download earlier. Once you have deleted all the .CPF files re-run the downloaded Patch or click on Network Game to update the game. If after this you still get CheckSum errors uninstall the Game by going to Control Panel, Add Remove Programs. Once uninstalled check the International Cricket Captain 2000 folder where the game was originally installed was deleted. The uninstall program will not delete files created after the game was installed (i.e. saved games and failed patch downloads). If the directory still exists delete it manually (you might want to save .CAP files as these are your saved games). Now reinstall International Cricket Captain and re-run the downloaded Patch (you might have to download a different version as you will now have v1.21 installed) or click on Network Game (you will need to create a saved game first) to update the game. As a last resort check your registry (use REGEDIT for this). The patch program looks for the location of International Cricket Captain 2000 in the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Empire Interactive\International Cricket Captain 2000\1.00\Path - if this is missing then it can not update. This registry key is only created when installing International Cricket Captain 2000 off an original CD-ROM. If it is missing you will need to investigate why your registry was not updated. Still got problems If after doing all the above you still have problems this means your International Cricket Captain 2000 files have been altered in some way. This is probably for one of the following reasons
