ASIAN TEST CHAMPIONSHIP INDIA v PAKISTAN, at Calcutta Pakistan won the toss on a very flat pitch. They started badly but soon picked up. Ijaz Ahmed played the innings of his life scoring 285. Saleem Malik was the next best batsmen, scoring 65 in a grand total of 560 all out. Prasad and Ganguly both took 3 wickets each. India came in next and scored 507. There was a hundred from Dravid and high scores from Ramesh, Ganguly and Kumble. Saqlain Mushtaq was the leading bowler, taking 5 wickets. Pakistan only managed 242 in their 2nd innings as the pitch started to crumble. Saeed Anwar got 50 and Ijaz Ahmed and Wasti both got in the 40s. The leading bowlers were Srinath, Kumble and Ganguly. India reached their target with 5 wickets remaining. They finished on 293. Dravid and Azharuddin both got in the 90s. The leading bowlers were Saqlain Mushtaq and Wasim Akram. India won by 5 wickets and the man of the match was Dravid for India. |
