4th Test, Melbourne Australia won the toss on an overcast morning a put England to bat. As normal England's batsmen flopped and they were all-out for 94 before tea. Gough scored an unbeaten 23 and Butcher got 22. Steve Waugh swing destroyed England and he finished with figures of 5/22. Glenn McGrath took 3/26. Australia batted very well against a weak England attack. Australia finished 373 all out. The best bowler for England was also a swinger. Mark Butcher got 3/26 and Gough got 3/85. Steve Waugh was in good form and went out for 80 and Mark Taylor got 53. England had to bat well but at the close of day 3 they had already lost 3 wickets. They ended the innings and the match 193 all out. Hick scored 57 and Ramprakash 42. McGrath took 4/62 and MacGill 3/34. Australia won the match by an innings and 86 runs and lead the series 3-0 with one test remaining. Steve Waugh was the man of the match. He took 5/22 and scored 80. The England team will be hoping for a win to try and make the scoreline a bit more reasonable but overall they will be very disappointed with their poor performance down under. |
