Internet Test Cricket is a very accurate statistical based Cricket Test Match computer game for 95/98/NT/2000/XP. It was the first cricket game to support online play over the Internet. It is based upon the successful International Test Cricket game. Internet Test Cricket is being released as a new product. My reasoning behind this is that this is a significant change from ITC to warrant it. There were a lot of free upgrades and improvements to ITC and that will stay the same with Internet Test Cricket. Consider how many releases of the Fifa game there has been whilst ITC has been available and I don't think it is unreasonable for this to be the first time I charge an upgrade fee. Send feedback about Internet Test Cricket.
I have released beta 7 of Internet Test Cricket. It was released for the CricketGames.com CD-ROM Release 013 and I have just noticed I did not update here. Added History page. This shows details of changes/updates of all releases of Internet Test Cricket.
I had hoped to release a new version long before now but I did not realise how working away from home would limit my time and energy to code :-( I have added some new features since the last update (these are all for the registered version only) which have been common requests.
These features have all been implemented and will be in the next release. I have also totally changed the algorithms used to determine results. They are now far more accurate especially run rates. They still require a bit more tweaking to be accurate for all cases but I am very happy with them. A registered version may be released by the start of the 1st Test against Pakistan. I am aiming to get the final Shareware version released before the start of the Ashes. The shareware release will now feature England and Australia for that reason.
I have released Internet Test Cricket 2.00 beta 5. Currently only the registered version has been updated. If you are a registered user you can download the update from the password protected area of this site. I hope to release an updated Shareware version in the next few weeks.
Managed to do some more development on Internet Test Cricket over the Christmas period. I have changed the way the network game works to be similar to International Cricket Captain 2000 in that now the bowling side first selects their tactics and then the batting side selects theirs. Unlike ICC 2000 there is currently no time limit. I have also fixed a lot of problems with the information pop up boxes when playing a network game. By default I had been testing with these all off so had been unaware of problems they caused. I have a few more still left to resolve then I can hopefully release an updated demo.
The major potential problem Internet Test Cricket will have for on-line games against International Cricket Captain 2000 (PC) is that you have to arrange on-line matches in advance. There is no dedicated server which you can connect to allowing you to see other players wanting a match. I hope to add a feature to Internet Test Cricket to allow you to connect to a dedicated server but as I don't have access to a dedicated server is there anyone out there with a 24/7 dedicated Windows NT based PC server I could run the proposed server side on? Please contact me if you can help. Continued development of Internet Test Cricket has progressed well over the last week or so. I have hopefully eliminated all bugs when replaying and fixed quite a few bugs with the network game. I have also added a proper chat feature during a network game. I have just got one more major bug, concerning weather that stops the network game working all the time, which once fixed will allow me to release hopefully the final beta version. For now I will not be updating the Users page as I am not sure if anyone is using it. Has anyone managed to play a match on-line? If you have pre-ordered Internet Test Cricket please inform me if you change your email address otherwise I will not be able to keep you up to date with update news.

Now that I have finished my contract work on International Cricket Captain 2000 (PC) development of Internet Test Cricket will re-start soon. I hope to have an update available within a month. Updated Users page - added details of latest users

Updated Users page - added details of latest users. Removed users who only listed email address as that is not that useful for an on-line status page. From now on will only add people who give full ICQ details.
Updated Users page - fixed 2 minute refresh problem plus added details of latest users.
Created Users page which shows details (and ICQ current status where appropriate) of Internet Test Cricket users you can arrange on-line matches against. Created Playing Online page which has some instructions for setting up on-line matches.
Updated Downloads page - added shareware beta version of Internet Test Cricket. The version released is beta and does contain bugs. If you play across the Internet it is quite possible the program will complain and drop the connection before you finish a Test. In this case please send me the DEBUG.TXT file (ZIPped) so I can try and solve the problem.
Updated Downloads page - updated date restricted beta version for existing users of International Test Cricket. In my rush to get the beta out yesterday I forgot to reset the function for taking wickets back to its correct value and as a result scores were far too low plus it would work even if no enhanced version of ITC was found :-). Other new additions are hopefully improved networking code making it a bit more robust and Series Replay feature (replay a test ball by ball as it happened).
Updated Downloads page - added date restricted beta version for existing users of International Test Cricket. The reason for releasing the beta today is mainly due to me starting a new contract which will restrict me to only bug fixing in the limited time I will have for the duration of the contract (3 months). There are still new features to be added to Internet Test Cricket and this beta does not reflect what the full version will be like.
Successfully completed first beta test of Internet Test Cricket online. This has prompted me to officially announce the game. Note I will be without email access during the week so will be unable to answer any questions you may have immediately. I will answer emails as soon as possible. Added Order Form to allow you to Pre-order the full version of Internet Test Cricket. Whilst still effectively in beta stages (Unlike other fully released games Internet Test Cricket is already very robust, beta just means some features are not yet fully implemented) there is a 25% reduction in price. Once the full version is released prices will go up. There is a discount available for people who have previously registered International Test Cricket. Anyone ordering Internet Test Cricket will get a 50% discount off Cricket Manager when it gets released. Added Features list. This list will grow. I have more ideas but will not add them to the list until they are fully working. Added Screenshots page. |
