Brian Lara Cricket by Codemasters is based upon the hugely succesful Brian LaraMegaDrive games. The Australian/NZ release is called Shane Warne Cricket '99. The Playstation version of Brian Lara Cricket was released in the UK on 11th December. As I only intend to buy the PC version I have rented out the PSX version and will add my own review in the next few days. If you have bought the game please send me in your own reviews and opinions. Received an email from the producer of Brian Lara Cricket. Some News Updates Review scores have been very good. 9/10 PlayStation Pro, 8/10 Official PlayStation, 88% PlayStation Power, 5/5 frOnt, 4/5 C&VG, 9/10 Australian PlayStation magazine. There is the first exclusive on-line review at http//www.webways.net/cricket plus new screenshots and Avi's. Our own website is also soon being updated. Thank you for your interest The new website is very good and the AVI files look very nice with 2 shots and 2 ground flybys. The screenshots are nicely organised into PC, Playstation and front end categories.
The Playstation version of Brian Lara Cricket was reviewed in the December issue of Arcade scoring 4 stars out of 5. The Christmas issue of the UK Official Playstation magazine has on it's cover disk a video of Brian Lara Cricket. The video is effectively in 2 parts. The 1st part is like an advert for the game showing lots of little clips and fancy graphics. The 2nd part shows the menus and screens for selecting and starting a match. Then several examples of actual deliveries are shown. These are of a high quality and show a variety of camera angles. The only slight downside I could spot was that just as the ball was about to pitch there was a slight delay where the relevant commentary is obviously being pulled off the CD. This commentary is then started before fractionally before the action continues so you had the strange case of the commentator yelling 'he's been bowled' before the stumps had been hit. There is still no way of knowing though what the control system is like.
The Playstation version of Brian Lara Cricket was reviewed in the December issue of the UK Official Playstation magazine scoring 8 out of 10.
The official Codemasters Brian Lara Cricket site http://www.brianlara.com or (http://www.brianlara.co.uk) went live on Sunday.
