downloaded executable which is a self extracting installation program. If you have any
problems please send
me details and I will try and help.
Upgrades for Registered Users
The following patches will upgrade v1.1, v1.11, v1.12, v1.13, v.14, v1.15,
v1.16, v1.17, v1.18, v1.19, v1.20, v1.21, v1.22, v1.23, v1.24, v1.25, v1.26, v1.27, v1.28,
v1.29, v1.30, v1.31, 1.32, 1.33 and v2.00 registered versions of ITC to v2.01. Please select the correct one
for your version of ITC. This is a list of the changes.
To use the upgrade run the downloaded executable which is a self extracting
installation program. If for any reason the upgrade can not be carried out the program
will tell you why. Make sure you have downloaded the correct version.
The upgrade relies on International Test Cricket already
being installed so If you are running Windows Vista 64-Bit/7/8 please visit
here.
The following is the latest version v1.32 of the International Test Cricket help
file. There is now one help file for all versions of International Test Cricket. To use
the help file unzip the file into your current International Test Cricket directory
overwriting your existing CRICKET.HLP file.
If you have any comments about the new features or any further suggestions on
how to improve International Test Cricket please send me details.
Beta releases for Registered Users
There are currently no beta versions available. As v1.32 is intended to be the
last release of International Test Cricket it is unlikely any more beta releases will
appear. Update v1.33 was released to include support for Vista. Update v2.00 was released to support Windows 7/8.
International Test Cricket Databases
The following are alternative databases for use with International Test Cricket
as supplied by registered users of International Test Cricket. These databases will only
work with registered versions of International Test Cricket.
Aside from the official database which I have created all these databases are
supplied as created by the author. There may be a bias or ratings that you do not agree
with. In this case let the author know not me.
To use a database unzip the file into a sub directory of the directory that you
installed International Test Cricket. A suggested directory for each database is included.
Please note that they will overwrite your existing databases including all your records
and averages if you unzip in to a directory with an existing database. From v1.20 of
International Test Cricket it is possible to have several databases available (only one
can be used at any time) by putting them in separate directories. When International Test
Cricket first runs it prompts you to select the database you want to use. If you have not
already upgraded please do so.
If you have your own database that you have created and want to share it with
others please send me a
copy. To do this you need to send the files NUMBER.DAT, PLAYER.DAT, SQUAD.DAT and
GROUND.DAT.
Has anyone done or feel like doing domestic squads for Pakistan, South Africa,
Sri Lanka or Zimbabwe. It does not matter if you have other squads defined in the
database, I can sort that out. It would be really good if we could get all domestic squads
defined for all the test playing countries.
Click on Ratings to view the Squads and Players defined in the database. How the
ratings are typically derived can be found in ITC Ratings.

ITC Database
Editor
This Editor is basically the database sections ripped out of the Enhanced
version of ITC. It will though only import/export the text file format and can not be used
to create new databases. You still need to register ITC for that. You can though send me
the text file and I can create the database. The main reason for this program is for
people who have offered to create databases for me but have not got the Enhanced version
of ITC. It also allows people to see how the editing facility of ITC works.IMPORTANT
- This program MUST NOT be installed in to the same directory as Registered ITC as it will
overwrite your existing database. |

Latest ITC v2 Test Squads |

Daniel Thomas |
Ratings Updated (21/11/13) - v2.00+ only Official
ITC database - This is an auto-generated International Test Cricket database
that contains players and squads up to the
*START* of the 1st Ashes test in Brisbane
2013/14.
As it is auto-generated some things need to be considered:
| No attempt has been make to tweak any ratings. Rating
are derived purely from statistics and
auto-adjusted if a player has played less than 20
Tests. |
| Squads are literally just the last 20 players to have
played so might not be balanced. Known retired
Players like Ponting, Hussey, Strauss & Martin
have been removed but others still may be included. Rogers, Agar &
Faulkner were added to the Australian squad. |
| Similarly grounds selected for a Squad are the last 6
home grounds. |
| All weather details for grounds are the same. Likewise
starting time and sunset are all the same. |
| Ground 'adjustments' for types of bowlers have been
determined from the actual statistics of matches
played on them. |
| Every player to have played Test cricket since 1995 is
still included if you want to adjust squads. |
If there are any glaring errors please email me so that they can be
corrected. |

Michael's Notes:
Each squad is based on touring squads or home teams from 1969 to
1989. I have included the rest of the World sides that toured England and
Australia in 70-71 as well as the WSC Australian squad. Averages are based
on career statistics rather than form for the series in question and players
with only a few test matches have had their stats changed to something
resembling their First Class figures. |

This database is the new default database supplied with ITC. It is the

and replaces over 60 players who have retired or have not played a Test in the last 2
years. Ratings have been carefully selected. They are initially based upon Test averages
but if not enough Tests (25+ normally) have been played career averages are referred to
and a suitable value derived. |

Whilst he is still intending to do this they will not be free. This is the free version
covering 1877-1885. How much the full version will be I do not yet know but considering
the huge amount of research required to complete this task I do not consider Ross charging
unfair. It is the amount of research needed that always stopped me doing something similar
and I always stated that if it ever did happen I would have to charge for it |
Test Squads by Decade |
alltime1 |
Daniel Thomas |
Ratings Updated (01/01/98) This
database is based upon the ones used for the last PBeM ITC League I started. There are 64
squads of 16 players for each decade in test history. These squads have been automatically
generated with the 16 players who played most in the relevant decade. If a player played
in more than one decade he is in the squad he played most tests for so there are no
repeated players in this database. Examples: Bradman plays in Aus 30's, RJ Hadlee plays in
NZ 80's, Gooch plays in Eng 80's even though he performed better in the 90's he played far
more tests in the 80's.
The squads have been selected to have an ideal setup of 7 batsman, 7
bowlers and 2 wicket keepers but this was not always possible for every squad. Some squads
do not have 2 wicket keepers in which case select your best fielder as a wicket keeper.
The data and skills have been calculated using the Test averages for the
player in the relevant decade! As it is not possible to know what type of batsmen all
players are I had to generalise. All openers are grafters, specialists are strokeplayers,
late order batsman are aggressive and tail enders are sloggers. There may too be errors in
the type of bowler a player is. Fielding type was calculated based upon number of catches
per Test.
Note there are some extreme cases where players have artificially high
skills due to playing very few tests. No attempt has been made to smooth these out. An
example is Emery of Australia 1990s who having played in only 1 Test (Healy has been the
keeper in all other tests) took lots of catches so has a very high fielding rating (higher
than Healy). If you play Australia 90s with computer generated teams Emery will be picked
rather than Healy. |
Test Squads by Decade |
alltime2 |
Daniel Thomas |
Ratings Updated (01/01/98) This
database is similar to the one above except it allows players to appear in more than one
squad. There are 20 players in each squad, ideally made up of 9 batsman, 9 bowlers and 2
keepers. To differentiate between players that appear in more than one squad the relevant
squad is appended to their name. e.g. I.T. Botham [1980s]. The skills are calculated based
upon Tests for the decade so Botham actually has better ratings for the 1970s than he does
for the 1980s as he actually performed better in the 1970s than he did in the 1980s. |

I have done very minimal testing, and might need a bit of work as some
ratings between the databases might not be too even.

After further testing of my ITC database, I found that it was not up to
scratch really with Sheriyar dominating the bowling records after many games. So I
completely overhauled the database, changing all the batting averages and most bowling,
along with updating fielding positions and adding second initials to players who have
them. Also changed are those grounds who do not have a proper name. I feel that now it is
even more accurate the real county game (!), mostly thanks to the ease of use making a
database in ITC, and the accuracy of playing skill ratings against skill ratings. |

Notes:
I have used one of the existing county databases on the website as a
template. However, the averages have been calculated by adding together career averages
and those from the 1998 season. I have also tended to exclude those cricketers who had
played fewer than ten first class matches by the end of 1998.
The purpose of creating this database was to remove the anomaly of young
2nd XI cricketers, who had played a few first class games and had averages of >50
batting and <25 bowling. Perhaps these are the players of the future, but they need to
play many more games before these averages can be taken seriously.
This is not a perfect database, for one there are no ground details.
Apart from the test grounds, I know little about other county wickets. |

I have virtually no knowledge of South African cricket, and what is here
is based on the limited info at CricInfo. They are the 1998/99 squads from the last series
they had. Averages are roughly based on the series averages (not career averages). I
haven't modified any of the grounds conditions. I made this database as when I went
through the downloads here, this was one I didn't see there. Thought it would be a good
start. Of course I probably made some errors in terms of ho some players play, but I hope
that people who use it and find the errors let me know so it can be modified accordingly. |

Ratings Updated (05/01/98) John's
Notes:
1) The 1996 County Database contained averages for all players CAREER TO
DATE at that time. The 1997 Database is 1997 Season averages ONLY allowing a 1997 season
"replay". This new database uses the 1996 Squads database as its basis, so all
players NOT in the 1997 squads remain in the database BUT whereas all 1997 players have
1997 Season Averages, players left from before and with no 1997 average will be career
averages to 1996. No problem with this as long as users are aware of it if they want to
add 1996 players to the squads.
2) Bearing in mind that the season has not long finished SOME of the new
squad players in 1997 I do not have full details for. Their AVERAGES will be fine but
bowling / fielding type etc may be incorrect in a very few cases. Anyone finding such is
welcome to e-mail me and I will correct the details for a later reposting to the web site.
(Cricket Annuals are not yet out for this season!)
3) My thanks to The Daily Telegraph for so quickly publishing the 1997
Averages used in this database, plus other information from the Playfair Cricket Annual

note I did not create this database so don't complain to me about Warne's bowling rating
:-)
Alan's Notes: (3/25/98)
Some stats adjusted if they would result in a player being better than they
could be in reality (e.g. Hutchison of Tasmania played 1 game for 6 wickets and a bowling
average of 16). I have adjusted stats so that they recreate what I believe to be a
reasonable representation of the player's performance during the currents season.
Generally, anyone with over 300 runs or 20 wickets has been rated how their stats would
suggest (i.e.batting rating equals average, bowling rating equals 70-average). A
specialist bowler with a bowling average over 60 was given a rating of 10 for their
bowling. An all-rounder with a bowling average greater than 65 was given 5 as their
bowling rating. Stats are for 1997/98 Sheffield Shield season only, no other first class
games are included. Thanks to Dan Thomas for a great game! |

Brien's notes
Seeing as how the USA competed in this year's Red Stripe Bowl (and actually won a match) I
made a new squad. I haven't done a whole lot of testing with it and the ratings are
probably a bit off (specifically the batting ratings for the all-rounders may be a bit
low). But here is the new team USA and apparently the team that will be at the ICC Trophy. |
