Just a note to explain the lack of updates on this site. The reason is very simple. I am getting sick of all the virii (500+ a day for the last month) I am getting sent. Even mentioning it several times on these pages people are still ignoring warnings and refusing to use a virus checker despite the fact a totally free one is available from http://www.grisoft.com. There is simply no excuse! Note even if people are careful enough not to open suspicious attachments you may still have a virus. Outlook Express has several vulnerabilities that mean an attachment is executed automatically without you knowing even if you don't read the infected email. If you use Outlook Express make sure you visit Windows Update and if you had are prompted to download a security update do a complete scan of your entire system with a virus checker and latest (less than a week old) definitions. If you need a virus checker get the free one from http://www.grisoft.com. Once clean go back to Windows Update and download the security updates. If the situation does not improve my the end of the week I will close down the forum. Make sure you and everyone you know who visits this site are virus free. It should become standard practice that you check Windows Update and download latest virus definitions at least once a week.
Updated Cricket 2002 (PC) - added Reviews page.
Updated Cricket 2002 (PC) - latest news (game has been released in the UK).
** IMPORTANT VIRUS NEWS ** Well the number of copies of the Klez.h virus I am being sent daily has increased again to around 20-25 a day! If there is anyone out there not running a virus checker with up to date virus definitions please download this 70Kb (15 seconds) file from Kaspersky Anti-Virus which will detect all variants of the Klez virus and if found clean your PC. The observant might have spotted there is now a PayPal Donate button on the left hand side. You don't necessarily need to donate anything as if you just Signup for PayPal (costs US$1 to validate your credit card which is refundable later) both you and I get a $5 credit. If you do want to donate something then please do :) I haven't yet got anything specific to offer people who do donate but will try and think of something. Some more updates done. Still a few more to do hopefully in the next few days but I said that time :) Added new Online game - NatWest Cricket Game by NatWest. Updated Cricket Shop - corrected prices and removed old links. ** IMPORTANT VIRUS NEWS ** Well the number of copies of the Klez.h virus I am being sent daily has dropped to around 10-15 a day so the blunt message earlier did appear to work. If there is anyone out there who stills does not want to run a virus checker please download this 70Kb (15 seconds) file from Kaspersky Anti-Virus which will detect all variants of the Klez virus and if found clean your PC. Started doing some of the updates. Will try and add the rest in the next few days. Updated Australian Cricket Captain - added details of database patch and editor by CricketWeb.net. Updated Cricket 2002 (PC) - updated Downloads (added 4 demos) page. Updated Cricket 2002 (PS/2) - updated Links (added FAQ) and Reviews pages. Updated International Cricket Captain 2001 (PC) - updated Downloads (added 11 scenarios from CricketWeb.net) page.
** IMPORTANT VIRUS NEWS ** This site is in extreme danger of closing. The reason is not lack of interest, webspace, news or any reason like that. No the reason is you yes you reading this now that does not have a virus scanner and recent definitions installed. You are obviously stupid as you have ignored all the warnings and are now repeatedly sending out virii. If you have run any attachment in the last month and have not a virus scanner you almost certainly have caught the W32.Klez.H@mm virus as it has loads of guises. One of its protections is that is spoofs the sender so you can not simply email the sender explaining they have a virus. Over 80% of the email (and that includes spam) I am currently getting is copies of this virus and I am getting totally sick of it. You can get a FREE virus scanner that can detect the virus from http://www.grisoft.com. IF YOU DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE A VIRUS SCANNER NOW YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE! DOWNLOAD IT NOW! Once the daily count of the number of times I am sent this virus drops from the current ridiculous 100+ a day to less than 10 I will update this site again and I have loads of news to add. I will also suspend the Forum if necessary.
Updated International Cricket Captain 2002 (PC) - game has been released plus added On-line page. Updated International Cricket Captain 2002 (PSX) - game has been released.
** IMPORTANT VIRUS NEWS ** There is a new virus going around (W32.Klez.H@mm)
which spoofs the senders address so you may believe I have
sent you a virus. This is most definitely not the case. I have Norton
Antivirus with automatic daily update and full scanning of all received and sent
emails. I also never run any attachments in emails even if I know the person who
has sent it. I also don't use Outlook Express which is required for most virii
to spread. Anyone who does not practice similar precautions is basically stupid
(there is no other word for it) and should not be entitled to use the Internet.
That may sound harsh but I am getting 50+ copies of the W32.Klez.H@mm virus a
day and am totally sick of it.
I will be away until May 6th - whilst I should get some web access replies to emails may have to wait until my return. Any orders for International Test Cricket, Internet Test Cricket or the CricketGames.com CD-ROM will be dispatched on my return. Updated CricketGames.com shop - you can now pre-order Cricket 2002 PC for £29.99, ICC 2002 PC for £19.99 and ICC 2002 (PSX) for £19.99. Orders can be shipped overseas.

** IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING FORUM ** If you attempt to view the forum it comes up with a page not found error. I don't know the cause of this. The forum was very slow for me all evening and kept timing out before the errors. I have sent an email to my web space providers CI Host but they are notoriously slow at answering technical support emails. If I find anything out I will post details here or the forum will hopefully suddenly reappear if they fix the problem.

*** LATEST NEWS REGARDING DOWNLOADS *** Toolkit Zone Network currently host all of the Freeware/Shareware/ICC/ICC 2 downloads. Unfortunately I have been informed they need the space for other projects. The files will only be available until the end of February. Cricket Web do have all the Freeware/Shareware files but I can not locate the ICC/ICC 2 downloads. If any one else can donate space (60+ Mb) and bandwidth (5+ Gb a month) then please get in touch. Free web space sites are not suitable as they rarely allow hot-linking from another site and have far too restrictive bandwidth.

With regards the jobs advertised on Sunday I have now had applicants for the Cricket 2002 and BLC/SWC sections. Whilst initially I have said yes to everyone who has applied I will be looking to narrow it down after a while. I am still looking for people to help with the ICC, Freeware/Shareware and On-line/PBeM sections.
Sorry for the lack of updates recently. As I mentioned on the Forum I had the misfortune recently to suffer 3 independent hard drive disasters. The final one was so bad the drive could not be read at all and I had to get some specialist data recovery software to access the drive. Whilst all important data like this site and ITC/ICC source code is replicated and regularly backed up there was still a lot of data I wanted to try and recover. This task has finally been completed and I have rebuilt my system back to the stage where I can start updating the pages again. I am looking for some people to help collect news/articles for this site. Each person would be assigned a section (ICC, Cricket 2002, BLC/SWC, Freeware/Shareware and On-line/PBeM) and it would be their job to read the relevant forums/web pages and collect details from other sources that would then be displayed on this site. You do not need to be a web expert as you would not get access to the site but would submit all copy in text/Word format on a regular basis. You must own any games concerned (these will not be supplied). You would get a cricketgames.com email address. If interested please apply stating which section you would like to handle, why you should be selected and if possible examples of writing/web pages you may have already done. Note these are all unpaid positions. |
