The on-line server is now back up and running. Sorry for the extended downtime but I was away for a few days and was unable to bring it back up until now.
Updated Links page - added link to The Australian ICC 2001 Mega Site. The Forum is open again. It was closed for a brief period due to abuse.
Updated Online page - added instructions on patching ICC 2001 and what to do if you have problems patching ICC 2001. The Forum is open again and has been for last two months - just noticed though had not updated these pages to inform you of this fact.
The Forum has been temporarily closed due to the actions of Messysex. He posted several messages (in an obvious deliberate attempt to get banned) and once banned proceeded to create several alternative identities and kept posting using these. After deleting four in as many minutes I closed the forum so he could not create any new threads. The Forum will re-open soon but when it does they will be more rules in place and I will ban (without warning) anybody abusing the forum. Updated Online page - updated hints for playing on-line.
Updated Reviews page - added link to review by PC Gameplay. Thanks to Yaju Arya for the link.

v1.01 of International Cricket Captain has been released. You can get it by clicking on Network Game where it will be automatically downloaded and installed. It is only required if you play on-line. The patch fixes the unsociable behaviour of people retiring teams and then resurrecting them from a copy/backup. Now when you retire a team the details are stored on the server and any copies/backups even if renamed etc., will no longer be available. The idea is for people to be more loyal with their on-line teams.

The recent downtime for the on-line server was due to the need to install patches to protect it against the Code Red virus. The server was recently updated to try and prevent the unsociable behaviour of people deliberately disconnecting. A disconnection now carries a penalty of 150% of a loss so it is now better to keep playing and maybe even win rather than disconnect. Anyone found to be deliberately disconnecting will be banned from the server. This has already happened to at least one person. The Empire Interactive International Cricket Captain 2001 page now links its Discussion page to the International Cricket Captain section of the CricketGames.com forum. There is an error on the Empire Interactive International Cricket Captain 2001 page which says a Demo is available in the downloads section. No demo has been created for the 2001 release. There is also an error on the Empire Interactive Tech Support page. It states there is a patch to v1.41. This is incorrect - there is currently no patch available for International Cricket Captain 2001. The patch listed is actually for International Cricket Captain Ashes Edition. International Cricket Captain 2001 was released yesterday in the UK and is priced at £19.99. Cheapest place I saw it was MVC at £17.99. Avoid Gamestation as they incorrectly priced it at £24.99. There was a strange problem with the server which meant some Network Codes were being incorrectly rejected despite being perfectly valid. The fault has been traced to the server which has been fixed. If you had problems registering your Network Code earlier please try again. Sincere apologies to anyone who had problems and thanks to the people on the Unofficial Forum for making me aware of the problem.

Heard from the producer of International Cricket Captain 2001 today that the release date is, as I predicted, 29th June and that Empire have listened to the developers and priced it at £19.99 rather than £34.99 as in previous years.
Despite all the work being done in the developers spare time and there being more work than originally anticipated development of International Cricket Captain 2001 is still on schedule and the release date target remains the end of June - most likely 29th. Final price has still not been decided.
